President-elect Donald Trump announced Sunday that Alina Habba, a member of his legal team, will serve as counselor to the president in his upcoming second term.
Habba represented Trump in several lawsuits since 2021, including a federal civil suit filed by his former attorney, Michael Cohen, and in cases against his niece Mary L. Trump, and The New York Times. She also served as a spokesperson for Trump.
A managing partner of Habba, Madaio & Associates, a law firm based in Bedminster, New Jersey, where Trump’s golf club is located, she was plucked from relative obscurity after Trump got to know her when she joined his club.
“Alina has been a tireless advocate for Justice, a fierce Defender of the Rule of Law, and an invaluable Advisor to my Campaign and Transition Team,” wrote Trump in a Truth Social post on Sunday. “She has been unwavering in her loyalty, and unmatched in her resolve – standing with me through numerous “trials,” battles, and countless days in Court.”
Habba holds an undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and a law degree from Widener University Commonwealth Law School,
Born in Summit, New Jersey, Habba holds an undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and a law degree from Widener University Commonwealth Law School.
Earlier this year, Habba took the stage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and delivered an impassioned speech about Trump. Habba, a mother of three, called herself “a devout Catholic, a proud first-generation Arab American woman and a feisty Jersey girl.”
