Harris says Trump’s violent rhetoric “must be disqualifying”

Vice President Kamala Harris said Friday that former President Donald Trump’s violent rhetoric “must be disqualifying” following his comments on former Rep. Liz Cheney.

“He has increased his violent rhetoric — Donald Trump has — about political opponents and in great detail, in great detail, suggested rifles should be trained on former Rep. Liz Cheney,” Harris said ahead of rally in Wisconsin. “This must be disqualifying.”

Harris remarks come after Trump said Thursday that Cheney should be fired upon, “with nine barrels shooting at her,” as he continues to target his political rivals with just four days until Election Day.

Harris added that she hasn’t spoken with Cheney since Trump made those comments, but stressed “she is tough and incredibly courageous.”

“We see this kind of rhetoric that is violent in nature, where we see this kind of spirit coming from Donald Trump that is so latent with desire for revenge and retribution and Liz Cheney is a tough person. She is an incredible American and I have an incredible amount of respect for her,” Harris said.

Harris, seeking to draw a contrast with her Republican rival, also said Trump would spend his first day back in the Oval Office “stewing over his enemies list,” while vowing that if elected, she “will be there working hard on your behalf on my to-do list.”
