“I’m melting like a snowman outside”: Walz acknowledges extreme heat during rally remarks

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz thanked supporters for braving the extreme heat at a joint rally with Vice President Kamala Harris in Las Vegas on Saturday, joking that “I’m melting like a snowman outside.”

“I want to say thank you to all of the people, since I’ve been here, to remind me that it’s a dry heat outside. So’s your damn oven,” he joked.

The Democratic vice presidential nominee also apologized to those who were turned away after the doors closed early as some people in line fell ill from the high temperatures.

“I understand, because of the heat, they had to shut the door early and turn thousands of folks away,” Walz said. “But don’t worry, we’re going (to) be back a lot.”

During his remarks, Walz briefly paused to allow medical staff to provide treatment to a person near the front of the crowd.
