Trump is closing his campaign with “total darkness and anger,” senior Harris campaign official says

Former President Donald Trump is closing his presidential campaign with “total darkness and anger,” a senior Harris campaign official said Sunday during a briefing with reporters.

“He really is closing his campaign with total darkness and anger, saying that he doesn’t mind if reporters get shot at rallies just days after he talked about training guns on Liz Cheney,” the official said. “For Trump, this election really is all about his own grievances, and he’s not focused on the American people.”

The campaign was responding to comments that the former president made on the campaign trail Sunday morning, invoking dark rhetoric at his first rally of the day, saying that he “shouldn’t have left” the White House after he lost the 2020 election and that he didn’t mind that somebody would have to “shoot through the fake news” to get him.

Harris, meanwhile, spoke at a Detroit-area church, where she said the community must act to “decide the fate of our nation.”
