US Presidential Election 2024: Michelle Obama emerges as only Democrat contender who can beat Republican Donald Trump

Though former First Lady Michelle Obama has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the US Presidential Election 2024, she is the most favored Democrat leader for the topmost office of the country. In an opinion survey conducted by the ‘Daily Express US’ in partnership with ‘The Democracy Institute’, Michelle Obama got 41% of the vote and surpassed all other potential Democratic nominees. Another former first lady Hillary Clinton secured 18% of the vote and came second.

Kamala Harris came third with only 11% of votes. She was tied with California Governor Gavin Newson (11%). They were followed by Michigan Rep. Gretchen Whitmer (8%), former 2016 Democratic presidential candidate and US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg (6%) and Pennsylvania Gov. and former Attorney General Josh Shapiro (5%).

Michelle Obama tops potential Democrat nominees
According to ‘Daily Express US’, the poll was conducted on Wednesday, July 24. It surveyed 1,200 likely voters including 444 Democrats, 420 Republicans and 336 Independents. In another survey, conducted by Ipsos shortly after Joe Biden pulled out and endorsed the vice president, Michelle Obama was found as the only hypothetical candidate that can comfortably defeat Republican candidate Donald Trump.

Hillary Clinton praises Kamala Harris
Quoting unnamed insiders, the news outlet said Michelle Obama has opted for a more behind-the-scenes life in politics. In an article published in ‘The New York Times’, Hillary Clinton praised Biden’s decision as an “act of patriotism” and expressed her excitement for Harris’ campaign against Trump.
