‘Fears over China’s intentions’ fuel Asian arms buildup

Global arms transfers grew by almost 10% in the last five years, driven mainly by European purchases in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, while Asian nations continued to build their arsenals amid “fears over China’s intentions,” the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute said in its latest report.
