US forces in Korea to hold rapid response posture for a Taiwan contingency

U.S. forces stationed in South Korea will expand their scope of operations beyond the Korean Peninsula to build a readiness system for a Taiwan contingency, as Washington seeks to enhance its deterrence not only against North Korea but also a more assertive China.
